Dot is the beat making part of Augsburg based HipHop-Duo «Blindspot» and the kind of guy to bang out an instrumental beat album on vinyl in 2014, which was considered pretty ballsy in times of hologram live shows of rap legends. But the first personal hello to the world, the solo full length «Alice» wasn‘t a shy «hello», more like «oh hi guys, mind if I show y’all how it can be done?». A keen smack in the faces of those that didn’t believe in this kind of music anymore, engrossing the listeners whole attention.
Now we have every right to be pretty damn excited about the new material Dot has to offer. A nine track strong EP called «Erratica». As assumed, we’re not going to be disappointed here. Still heavy drum work, still beautiful samples, still top-notch arrangements. The single songs may change a lot in themselves, leaving the impression of it being way more than nine tracks.
As for the sample and sound choices, there are more rather subtle elements intertwined in deliberated constructs, which provide refreshing additions to his personal note. There is still plenty of organic, raw sounding drum programming and percussion, perfectly put together with catchy melodies and kind spheres. Another release in its own league: It’s a Bangerrrr!

Is this jazz? Does it matter? All I know is a rabbit hole of experimental jazz brought me to its door, and to Anette Records, and my life has not been the same since. Just music at its most joyous. supergranular
